The Michigan Petroleum Association/Michigan Association of Convenience Stores (MPA/MACS)

is offering a two-hour, in-depth Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance seminar on Tuesday,

April 28, 2015. There will be a morning session from 10 am12 pm and repeated in an afternoon

session from 1:30 pm3:30 pm. Cost is $25 per person for MPA/MACS members, $50 for

non members.

Every merchant that accepts credit or debit cards is expected to be PCI compliant. The goal of

this seminar is to provide an opportunity for members to gain additional insight into the PCI

Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and its impact on their business operations. Michael Witt, a

PCI Qualified Security Assessor, will present a risk-based approach to address the challenges

and cost of compliance for retail merchants.

The seminar will also include discussion of:

· What is cardholder data?

· Overview of the PCI DSS and its requirements

· Payment Applications and POS Vendor Management

· Compliance Validation Process

· Detailed review of the in-scope PCI requirements for merchants

· Common vulnerabilities and recent trends in data breaches

The costs of PCI compliance may seem significant, but the costs associated with fines and penalties

as a result of failing to comply with the standards are even greater. Merchants are required

to protect cardholder data wherever it resides. Every retailer should be aware of their exposure

to the most common threats related to PCI compliance.
